Jane Fonda drops the C bomb on live television Posted: 15 Feb 2008 01:10 PM CST
The Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler was sitting right next to Jane Fonda on the Today show, when she dropped the C-word on live television. Host Meredith Vieira later apologized for Fonda’s use of the term. The word was also removed from the Midwest and West Coast broadcasts of the program. Of course Fonda’s rep issued an apology on her behalf and said she deeply regretted the “slip … She certainly meant no disrespect,” reports New York’s Daily News. I thought television stations learned their lesson with the famous Janet Jackson ‘wardrobe malfunction’ and thought most were going to be operating on a 3 second delay. Guess not! What do you think? Has society grown so liberal with their use of words that we should take such serious offense to them on television? Or should networks operate all Live programming on a delay of some sort to avoid pie-in-the-face mishaps like Fonda and the C-word? |
